TOOLBOX: Commercial to Housing Conversion: Unlocking Residential Potential in Our Region’s Commercial Districts

This webinar explored the opportunities and challenges associated with converting vacant and underutilized commercial spaces in our region to housing. Experts from the cities of Seattle, Tacoma, and Chicago, as well as consulting firm AECOM, shared insights on large-scale office-to-residential conversions. Additionally, Main Street America offered perspective on the smaller adaptive reuse projects taking place in the downtown cores of medium and small communities across the country. Participants had the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge on the planning and policy foundations necessary to successfully transform these commercial properties into livable residential spaces.
