PSRC holds Passport to 2044 climate change webinar

PSRC recently held the second event in the Passport to 2044 series, centered around climate change. The series, co-hosted by PSRC, the Washington State Department of Commerce, and Municipal Research and Services Center (MRSC), provides planners, consultants and staff with tools and guidance for updating their comprehensive plans to 2044.

You can watch a recording of the webinar here.

The climate webinar provided attendees with an overview of climate change and resilience guidance, and provided tools to help create local plans that advance regional goals around climate change and prepare the region for climate change impacts.

The event included presentations from PSRC on some of VISION 2050’s key policy themes around climate, WA Department of Commerce on climate mitigation and resilience, and Thurston Regional Planning Council and the City of Tumwater on some of their current climate planning efforts and lessons learned.

Along with the webinar, PSRC has released draft guidance on climate change and resilience as part of PSRC’s VISION 2050’s free planning resources available for planners and members of the public. Feedback on the draft climate guidance can be sent to Director of Transportation Planning Kelly McGourty at kmcgourty@psrc.org.

Future Passport webinar topics include transportation, housing, equity and transit-oriented development (TOD).  More information on future workshops and resources is available on the PSRC websiteSubscribe to our Comprehensive Planning Newsletter to stay in the loop as the journey continues to update local comprehensive plans.

The next Passport to 2044 webinar on economic development will take place on Zoom Sept. 7, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Register here!
