New downtown plaza celebrated in style

North Bend Downtown Plaza Halloween Ribbon Cutting
The City of North Bend debuted its new Downtown Plaza project in style with a Halloween ribbon cutting and trick or treat event.
The project improved sections of North Bend Way and Main Avenue in the downtown historical business district to create a unique space that includes a traffic calming environment with a curbless intersection and a larger walkable plaza area.
The new plaza includes design features such as decorative bollards, bronze inlaid lettering, ornamental tree grates and trench drains, new sidewalks and street trees, and luminaries. Functional upgrades include improvments to the water main, stormwater drainage, connectivity, festival power hookups and full ADA compliance.
The goal of the new plaza is to help stimulate the economic core of North Bend by upgrading the aging public infrastructure and creating an attractive and safe environment to shop, dine and gather.
North Bend’s Downtown Plaza project was funded with $1,717,369 in PSRC funds; $350,000 were awarded in 2012 and another $1,367,369 in 2016.
Congratulations!
