Regional Household Travel Survey is Underway

PSRC and Pierce County are conducting a regional travel study to better understand the transportation needs and preferences of the region’s residents.

Thousands of residents in the area will receive invitations by mail to participate in this important transportation study sometime between February and June 2025. This survey is only open to people who receive invitations in the mail, so please participate if you receive one!

PSRC conducts this survey every two years. The 2025 study will provide up-to-date information and help communities throughout the region plan for transportation improvements, new housing, and job growth. The survey provides real time information on how people are traveling in the region and how that has changed over the last two years. This is essential for decision makers to continue to refine and improve the transportation system.

A random sample of the region’s households will be invited by first-class mail to participate in the survey and will have the option of completing the survey online, over the phone (1-888-444-9159), or through a smartphone app (rMove™).

The survey will ask questions about residents’ day-to-day travel throughout the Puget Sound region: how people travel, where they go, how long it takes and who travels with them. The study privacy policy describes how any sensitive or personal information is handled and used. The aggregated data will be used for analysis and modeling purposes.
