SEATTLE - The Puget Sound Regional Council is encouraging people to comment on two projects new to the Regional Transportation Improvement Program. The King County Metro and Intercity Transit projects are recommended to receive $3,802,343 and $2,603,722 in PSRC funds, respectively. The public comment period will run from September 7 - 28, 2017. PSRC's Executive Board is scheduled to approve these projects on September 28.
Funding for the King County Metro project will go toward preservation and maintenance of the agency's trolley system.
The Intercity Transit project is to expand and refurbish the agency's current maintenance and operations facility. Intercity Transit primarily serves Thurston county, but receives funding because the agency provides commuter services to the Puget Sound region.
The funding is available due to the annual adjustment of Federal Transit Administration funds, which are awarded to the region's transit agencies based on services provided to the region.
