The Puget Sound Regional Council has developed a summer program for teens who want to learn about urban planning and share ideas about making the Puget Sound region a better place to live.
Summer Planning Academy (SPA) is a free leadership development initiative that encourages high school students to think about how planning can impact their communities and help people lead better lives.
Topics included an overview of planning agencies, environmental planning, regional transit housing, and equity.
Students will be taught by PSRC staff members and will have the opportunity to hear from industry professionals and elected officials within the region.
Upon successful completion of the academy, teens will receive a $500 scholarship.
Summer Planning Academy begins July 21 and runs four consecutive Fridays from 10 am to 3 pm.
High school students ages 16 and above from the King, Kitsap, Peirce, and Snohomish counties are welcome to apply.
The application is currently live and is due May 15, 2023. For more information about the academy, visit our webpage.
