SR305 and Johnson Parkway now open

Last Saturday, people from Poulsbo and the Suquamish Tribe gathered for the grand opening and ribbon cutting of SR305 and the Johnson Parkway.

The grand opening celebrated the roundabout and the non-motorized tunnel crossing at the new intersection of SR305. Members of the public gathered to walk, bike, and explore the new path.

Those who attended and spoke at the event include Poulsbo Mayor Becky Erickson and the Chairman of the Squamish Tribe, Leonard Forsman.

Also highlighted at the ribbon cutting were local artists whose work can be seen through the roundabout. Blacksmith Elijah Burnett created the piece “Peaceful Waters” - a round sculpture containing stained glass leaves, Tribal members in a canoe, and a Heron. Within the roundabout are pieces “In the Midst” and “Traveling”, created by Lisa Stirlet and Suquamish tribal member Kate Ahvakana.

The tunnel is a part of the Noll Corridor Project, an important transportation infrastructure and safety project connecting SR205 to NE Lincoln Road via Noll Road, Languanet Lane, and Maranatha Lane. The project includes street lighting, sidewalks, and shared-use path improvements through the corridor.

The Noll Road Corridor project was initiated in 2007. PSRC’s support of the project began in 2014, providing $5.9 million to the project over the past few years.

This project seeks to implement traffic and non-motorized features within the Noll Corridor, improving safe access to area homes and schools. More of the project information.
