The City of Redmond will debut another 1.3 miles of its Central Connector Trail at a public gathering on Saturday, September 23.
In 2010, Redmond purchased a section of the old BNSF rail line and began its transformation into a new trail and linear park that connects to the regional trail system.
The second segment connects Downtown Redmond with the Redmond Puget Power Trail, Willows business district, and Sammamish Valley neighborhoods.
The trail project and other investments by the city are aimed at making downtown Redmond a magnet for people to live, shop and gather — and eventually catch a ride on light rail.
The trail also provides safety enhancements to pedestrians traveling in Downtown and along Willows Road and an alternate route to the Sammamish River Trail, which is heavily used in Redmond, for people to use for recreation or transportation.
PSRC provided $2.8 million to this project.
