PSRC Seeking Public Comment on Five Transit Projects

The Puget Sound Regional Council is encouraging people to comment on five projects new to the Regional Transportation Improvement Program.  The Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro and Pierce Transit projects are recommended to receive a total of $30,119,450 in PSRC funds.

The public comment period will run from June 1, 2023 – June 22, 2023. PSRC's Executive Board is scheduled to approve these projects on June 22.

The Community Transit recommendation is for two projects to receive:

  • $788,767 for preventive maintenance of its vehicle and non-vehicle assets, including repairs, inspections and administration.
  • $7,329,164 for the rehabilitation, renovation and maintenance of the agency’s transit facilities, including base buildings, park and rides, transit stations and bus stops. This project is also receiving funding redistributed from another existing project.

Everett Transit is recommended to receive $1,275,009 to replace the outdated HVAC system at Everett Station.

King County Metro is recommended to receive $18,235,000 to replace the Energy Supply Systems (ESS) in all of its trolley buses.

Pierce Transit is recommended to receive $2,491,510 to purchase shuttle vehicles to support the agency’s complementary ADA paratransit service.

The funding is available due to the annual adjustment of Federal Transit Administration funds, which are awarded to the region's transit agencies based on services provided to the region.  More information and background on that process may be found in PSRC’s Transportation Policy Board June meeting agenda packet at: https://www.psrc.org/board/transportation-policy-board.
