New regional electric vehicle collaborative clearinghouse website

The Puget Sound Regional Council is teaming up with the Puget Sound Clean Air agency to create a searchable and planner-focused electric vehicle (EV) clearinghouse website that carries relevant information, tools, and funding opportunities.

Almost 40% of the Puget Sound region’s greenhouse gas emissions are due to transportation. To meet Washington State’s climate goals, there needs to be 1 million zero-emission vehicles on the road by 2030.

Changes at the local planning levels can ensure the transition is timely and equitable as Washington moves towards zero-emission vehicles.

The Regional EV Collaborative Clearinghouse was created to help local planners and decision-makers find the resources needed to prepare for the influx of electric vehicles. This includes information on installing EV chargers, including electrification in updated comprehensive plans or codes, and learning about the benefits of EVs.

Currently, there are more than 85,000 zero-emission vehicles in King, Kitsap, Pierce, and Snohomish counties. In the Puget Sound region, there has been a 32% increase in EV’s in the past two years and this trend is expected to continue and to grow.
