KITSAP COUNTY – Kitsap Transit’s new Long-Range Transit Plan has won a VISION 2050 Award from the Puget Sound Regional Council. The awards recognize innovative projects and programs that help ensure a sustainable future as the region grows.
The Long-Range Transit Plan outlines how Kitsap Transit will achieve its overarching goal of improving bus and ferry service in Kitsap County through 2042.
“Kitsap Transit’s new plan really works to build new partnerships with local jurisdictions around transit station area planning in time to influence local comprehensive plans,” said Josh Brown, Executive Director of PSRC. “This type of collaboration is how we get to the future we want.”
The award was presented at the Kitsap Transit Board Meeting on September 5, 2023.
VISION 2050 is the region’s plan for growth. By 2050, the region's population will reach 5.8 million people. The region’s cities, counties, Tribes, ports, agencies, businesses, and communities have worked together to develop VISION 2050 to prepare for this growth and serve as a guide for sustaining a healthy environment, thriving communities and a strong economy.
