Draft Puget Sound Passenger-Only Ferry Study now available

The draft Puget Sound Passenger-Only Ferry Study is now available for review.

The study reviewed 45 potential routes and conducted a three-tiered evaluation process to identify seven routes for more detailed assessment, including potential operational costs, site specific conditions, electrification potential and other elements.

PSRC is hosting its third and final webinar to share the draft study on December 15, 1:30 to 3 pm.This will include route profiles and key findings. The webinar video will be posted on the website following the event.

The Washington State Legislature directed PSRC to conduct a Puget Sound Passenger-Only Ferry Study across the 12 counties bordering Puget Sound and on Lake Washington and Lake Union. PSRC launched the study early in 2020, starting with a review of previous studies and current passenger-only ferry service to identify trends, lessons learned and best practices, followed by criteria development and assessment of potential terminals and routes.

Any feedback on the draft study provided to POF_Study@psrc.org by December 28, 2020 will help inform the final report submitted to the Legislature in January.
