The VISION 2020 Update Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) represents a major milestone in the development of a revised and enhanced regional strategy. The document is a tool to help the region's policymakers develop a draft strategy in the coming months. The DEIS is being prepared in accordance with the State Environmental Policy Act. It is a plan-level, or non-project, environmental impact statement, and its content is consistent with the requirements of the State Environmental Policy Act for non-project actions (Washington Administrative Code 197-11-442). The DEIS presents and discusses the potential significant environmental impacts that may occur upon implementation of four growth management alternatives, which distribute forecasted growth into different types of areas throughout the region. None of the alternatives has been selected as preferred and, over the next year and a half, the region will face some tough choices as it seeks to develop a single growth alternative that reflects our shared values and aspirations. You can read the DEIS by downloading it via the links below or use the interactive EIS browser to navigate through the document. |
